Special Session 3: Healthcare Monitoring Systems and Applications

Abstract

Digital technologies are pivotal in delivering essential primary and secondary care healthcare services. Various innovations in health care enable serving the immediate needs of care that patients need and allow dealing with monitoring and care of patients with long-term conditions. To this end, digital healthcare solutions promise a new transformation in the operation and delivery of many healthcare services.
In the rising demand for limited and expensive resources, performing routine monitoring with an affordable autonomous evaluation system and freeing human labor for higher-value services will increasingly become essential. One way to address these problems is by creating intelligent remote monitoring environments that can autonomously monitor and analyze activities to enable patients to live more independently and provide access to much-needed real-time data to healthcare professionals.
Recent developments in digital health care solutions harness developments in many fields, including the capability for remote monitoring using wireless communication, body area networks, micro and nanodevices, machine learning, and computer vision. The integration/ combination of ICT technologies, including machine learning algorithms based on multi-view metric learning to fuse multi-source /sensory data, allows new possibilities in which the digital health care solution fills the current gaps in primary and secondary care.
This session will present the latest research and development efforts by the DigiHealth-Asia project and relevant papers from the conference’s main track.
